Consult your doctor before taking curcumin or turmeric. Large doses of curcumin or turmeric can increase the production of stomach acids and may cause heartburn in patients with history of gastritis, acid reflux, GERD or gastric ulcers. Curcumin may slow down the process of blood clotting, which can increase bleeding. Therefore, it’s advised to stop taking curcumin supplements about 2 weeks before the surgery.
